The Girls in STEM Mentorship Program empowers rural primary
school girls aged 13 and above by connecting them with inspiring female
university students, STEM graduates, and women working in science, engineering,
and technology careers. Through phone-based mentorship sessions, facilitated
safely through parents or guardians, girls receive guidance, encouragement, and
relatable role models who help them build confidence and discover their
potential in STEM.
The program provides ongoing mentorship for 6–12 months,
focusing on academic habits, STEM career exploration, leadership, personal
growth, and future planning. By offering consistent support and exposure to
real STEM paths, the initiative strengthens girls’ ambitions to pursue STEM studies
at higher education level.
Our long-term vision includes establishing a STEM Sisters
Alumni Network, where today’s mentees will become tomorrow’s mentors, ensuring
a sustainable cycle of female empowerment in Malawi.
