In rural Malawi, limited access to safe water and reliable energy continues to affect health, education, livelihoods and household resilience. Women and girls often spend hours collecting water, while communities face unreliable infrastructure and limited access to affordable energy for schools, health facilities, agriculture and small businesses.
Our Safe Water and Clean Energy Programme delivers practical, climate-resilient solutions through solar-powered water systems, rehabilitation of water points, rainwater harvesting, efficient water management and renewable energy technologies. We strengthen local capacity by training women, young people, water committees and community leaders to manage, maintain and protect these systems.

Beyond improving access to essential services, clean energy creates opportunities for solar irrigation, productive enterprises, improved learning environments and stronger local livelihoods. By combining WASH, renewable energy, skills development and community leadership, the programme addresses immediate needs while building long-term resilience.
Working with government, communities, private-sector partners and development organisations, we aim to create scalable, locally owned solutions that improve health, dignity, economic opportunity and climate resilience—helping rural communities build a more sustainable and prosperous future.
Expanding reliable and climate-resilient access to safe water through sustainable water supply systems, rainwater harvesting, water conservation and strengthened community management.
Promoting affordable renewable energy solutions, including solar-powered water systems to improve access to water, WASH services, community infrastructure and productive activities while reducing reliance on costly and unsustainable energy sources.
Strengthening sanitation, hygiene and menstrual health practices while promoting climate-resilient WASH solutions that protect communities from waterborne diseases and climate-related risks such as droughts and floods.
Building the technical, entrepreneurial, leadership and financial skills of women and young people in renewable energy, WASH, green innovation and sustainable livelihoods, enabling them to participate in and lead community development.
Strengthening community structures, local leadership and technical capacity to ensure that water, sanitation and renewable energy systems are properly managed, maintained and sustained over the long term.
Working with government institutions, communities, private-sector actors, technical partners and development organizations to introduce locally appropriate technologies, strengthen learning and scale successful WASH, renewable energy and climate-resilience solutions.
